The family for whom I am house-sitting left behind an extended-version set of The Lord of the Rings. I now know far more about that production than I ever needed to!

If anyone is ever in need of a laugh, watch The Fellowship of the Ring with the actors' commentary turned on. Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd are FAR funnier than their characters Merry and Pippin (and that's saying something!). I had tears in my eyes from laughing.

I'm also catching new lines. When the hobbits are heading into the wilderness with Strider/Aragorn, Merry (or Pippin?) says to Frodo "How do we know he is a friend of Gandalf's [and not a bad guy]?"

Frodo's response: "I think a servant of the Enemy would look fairer and feel fouler."
