Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where’s the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need
I need a hero
I'm holding out for at hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He’s gotta be sure
And it’s gotta be soon
And he’s gotta be larger than life
Larger than life
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There’s someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It’s gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet
...
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I could swear there is someone somewhere
Watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like a fire in my blood

I've always said that if I wasn't such a horrendous singer I'd pick this for karaoke and put on a show, just sing my guts out. Instead, I settle for Lita Ford and swinging the microphone over my head when the sign behind me clearly forbids such shenanigans.
Amen.
When I hear this song in my head, it's accompanied by a flurry of sweatbands and leggings and poofy permed hair and people doing 80s aerobics. Weird.
In the movie "Bandits," Cate Blanchett does this AWESOME sing-while-cooking-and-then-driving to a different Bonnie Tyler song (the name of which has momentarily left my skull). But I think of that scene for this song too.
My students just started pouring in my room.
Gotta go.
I'm gonna be singing this all day now.
This reminds me of my latest "boy" saga. Long story short, I did some quick math while we were talking and figured out that he was AT LEAST 45 years old unless he was a child genius and went to college at 12. In that case he's only 39...

Wow...what a flashback here! I used to dance all around the house to this song singing my lungs out when I'd be home alone as a kid. It was my absolute favorite record! And amen on the karaoke note...I'm totally gonna look for this song!
