From a Student Paper

(students like this make me feel irrelevant--which is a nice feeling sometimes. Well, irrelevant apart from the fragment.)

From a book report concerning John Hersey's nonfiction book Hiroshima:

"The underlying theme of warring humanity longing for peace points to more than an earthly solution of some body like the United Nations. Because a physical creation can never solve problems created by spiritual rivalry.

"Those who seek a deeper understanding of the heart of humanity, anyone who is dumbfounded over the forgetfulness of the world, and whoever realizes mankind has destroyed himself through his own being, these are the kinds of people who will cherish Hiroshima as something much greater than words on paper. Those individuals will take what Hersey, the survivors, and the world has to say about its own corruptness, and turn it into a case that the only solution to the problems past, and present at hand, requires something greater than us."
