One of the great things about teaching high school is all the free (or really, really cheap) entertainment it provides--beyond day-to-day teenaged silliness. Just in the past week I've gone to two great baseball games--the one on Friday was AMAZING and way more interesting than any pro-game I've gone to--as well as an art show and a history faire. All free. Next week I'll pay $2 for a musical review which promises to be amazing. You'll think I'm biased, but my parents come to some of these events (my dad to baseball games and my mom to the plays) of their own free will. My students are truly talented. Teaching them give me hope in the future--politically, ethically, artistically...
